Creating a 5 Easy Steps Logo Using Photoshop
Logo is important as a symbol of identity in every group that is newly created whether they are simply for formalities or for business. Most businesses have their own logo and to make sure that it is not copied by another source, they have to register their logo in their local government. Logos today can be created using Photoshop.
This tutorial is for creators that are not designed oriented or does not know how maneuver themselves with different effects and filters in Photoshop. If you search in Google on how to create professional looking logos, it will give you hundreds of tutorials and most of them uses a lot of filters and layers that will make the most beginners confused. This tutorial solely focuses on tools and a few layers that produce simple but elegant looking logos.
Step 1
First is to open Photoshop and create a new document by going to File – New. Give the name Logo and set the size to 200 x 200 pixels.
With your new document or also called canvas, grab the Custom shape tool by pressing the U key on your keyboard. You can also use the Hotkey U but this will not bring you directly to the Custom Shape Tool if the default is the Rectangle Tool. To change it, hold Shift key and repeat hitting U until you get to Custom Shape.
Step 2
By default, this is what you are going to see with custom shapes. To load another set of shapes, you simply need to click the gear with an arrow icon and a menu will pop out of it. Below you will see the following: Animals, Arrows, Artistic Textures, Banners and Awards, Film, Frames, Grime Vector Pack, LightBulb, Music, Nature, Objects, Ornaments, Shapes, Symbols, Talk Bubbles, Tiles and Web.
For this tutorial, you are going to use the leaf shape with a little tweaking, combined with a letter. Fill your background by changing your foreground color to #510418 and hit the Alt + Backspace key to fill the entire canvas.
Step 3
Now choose the Leaf 2 shape by hitting the U key from the keyboard. Hold down Shift then tap U several times until you get to the shape tool. Choose the Leaf 2 shape by going to the gear located at the top right corner of the selection then choose Nature. Follow the highlighted image below:
Step 4
Hold down the Shift key to maintain an equal size of the shape then click and drag on the canvas. Once the shape is in place, hit Ctrl + T to transform the leaf similar to the image below. After you are done, hit the Enter key on the number pad.
Step 5
Now grab the Type tool by hitting the T key then type the letter and font of your choice. If the size of the font is too small or too big, you can use the transform tool to shape it according to your desire. Follow the image below:
